Badges at Home! 

You can work on the following badges at home, some of these will be in conjunction with our sessions and activities

Animal Friend

Collector

Book Reader

About the badge

Beaver Scout Animal Friend Badge, We also visit pets at home for this badge.

Badge Requirements

  1. Learn how to care for an animal, Find out what the animal needs. Learn about its habitat, space, exercise and sleeping area.
  2. Help to take care of that animal for four weeks
  3. Keep a note of how you have looked after the animal for the four weeks.
  4. Tell others in your colony about the animal

Completing The Badge

  1. Even though there are lots of computer games and things that show you what its like to care for an animal, these won’t count for the badge. You will need to learn to take care of a real, live animal.
  2. You can include looking after wild animals such as birds for this badge if you do not have a pet at home. Caring for them would include feeding them and looking after a bird bath for example
  3. Using the worksheet keep a note of how you have taken care of the animal this could include takins photographs or writing short sentences. Once you have handed in your worksheet your leaders will get to show us at one of our sessions.

About the badge

For thousands of years, people have collected artefacts, objects, and treasures. Now it's your turn.

Badge Requirements

  1. Spend at least six weeks making a collection.
  2. Show your Colony or Lodge a sample of things from your collection.
  3. Tell others in your Colony or Lodge about your collection.

    What is your collection? Why do you collect these things? What is your favourite thing from your collection?

Completing The Badge

Examples of collections:

  • Stickers or Cards
  • Items from nature such as shells or rocks
  • Awards from activities you’ve done such as badges or medals
  • Souvenirs from places you’ve visited such as postcards, magnets or keyrings

Download and fill in the Collectors Worksheet and hand it into your section  leader. who will then organise your show and tell for one of the sessions

About the badge

  1. Design a cover for your favourite book. - Tell your Colony, Lodge, Explorer Scout Young Leader or Beaver Leader why this book is your favourite. 
  2. Read at least six books. - Books you have read on an e-reader count too.
  3. Show that you know how to look after a book.
  4. Make a bookmark and explain what bookmarks are for.
